Juan Gonzalez is a
New York Daily News columnist. He is also co-host of
Democracy Now!. He has won numerous awards, including a George Polk award. He is the author of
Harvest of Empire: A History of Latinos in America (Viking, 2000), and
Roll Down Your Window: Stories from a Forgotten America (Verso 1995), a collection of his columns. His latest book
Fallout: The Environmental Consequences of the World Trade Center Collapse (New Press, 2002) documents cover-ups by Environmental Protection Agency and government officials about health hazards at Ground Zero in New York. He was a founding member, and elected President of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists.
