Pankaj Mishra is the author of Temptations of the West: How to Be Modern in India, Pakistan and Beyond, India in Mind, and An End to Suffering: The Buddha in the World. His other books include Butter Chicken in Ludhiana: Travels in Small Town India, and The Romantics. He writes literary and political essays for the Guardian and is a contributor to The New York Review of Books, London Review of Books, Granta, and the Times Literary Supplement.
