Alexander Cockburn, an Irish citizen and a resident of the US since 1973, is a "radical" reporter and commentator. He has been the
Nation’s "Beat the Devil" columnist since 1984, and a columnist for a range of other publications and newspapers. He has contributed to the
Village Voice,
New York Press,
New York Review of Books,
Harper’s,
The Atlantic Monthly, and a nationally syndicated column to the
Los Angeles Times, and the
Wall Street Journal. He is also a member of the editorial board of
New Left Review, where he worked in the 1960s, and the co-founder and co-editor with
Jeffrey St. Clair, of the newsletter and website
CounterPunch. He is the author of, among other books,
Corruptions of Empire,
The Golden Age Is In Us, and (with Jeffrey St Clair),
Whiteout: The CIA, Drugs and the Press, and
Al Gore: A User’s Manual, all from Verso. His latest book is
